She smiled at us when we first opened our eyes.
Eager to show her beauty, she tried to touch us
– in as many ways as she could.
Sending us the very air we breathe,
the sunshine that provides us with the food,
the water which cycles the earth, always in motion
did not satisfy her, yet.
Time passed, we still were as clueless as ever.
There were lonely times when all we did was
-listen to the wind, rustling the trees and making them dance
in the Oh so familiar tunes.
She was there.
There were beautiful times, when we would play in the scorching sun
trying to find even a little trace of a shade during break.
She was there, too.
She didn’t say a word when we blindly built new buildings
on the once beautiful forests
She didn’t say a word when we blindly cut her parts
for making our lifestyle modern
But now
She was in fear.
Not for her survival.
No. Never.
She was a mother, after all.
And as all mothers, all she feared was about her children life
after her death.
So beautiful & touching. I love the last lines where you brought in the sacrificing characteristic of a mother. Great piece!
